The Central Market of Hoi An, Vietnam is an institution. A busy, crowded, well-used institution. Between the carts of the vendors, the feet of the shoppers, and the more than occasionally intruding flood waters from the river, the streets of the Central Market are covered in potholes. In an effort to smooth the way, the market vendors have filled the worst potholes with broken flip flops - or perhaps the flip flops just got stuck in a pothole and rather than struggle, the owners left them behind.
If you look over the chaos in front of New Delhi's train station, across the street is the most decrepit Travel Lodge in the world. The sheets may not be clean, the windows may be little more than squared off holes in the walls, but the location can't be beat!

It is the transport for sustainable urban communities: eco-environmentally friendly carbon-free transport which is visibly found in the high streets of Paris. The French government introduced this bike transity system known as "Velib" last year (2007) as a new self-service to allow people (including tourists) to to pick up and drop off bikes throughout the city at 1,451 locations and 20,600 bikes.
