This is how villagers in India stack hay. Stacking hay this way keeps the moisture away during the monsoon time, and the hay inside the stack remains fresh to be consumed by the cattle the villages own .. In olden times, the villagers used to stock their grains within this cottage like hay hut for the same reason. But now most of the grains they grow are sold and the rest are kept in nylon woven bags for their own consumption.
