If there's one thing the word "rural" brings to my mind, it's the Dutch polders, kept dry for centuries by the ceaseless efforts of the Dutch windmills. This here is probably the most famous row of windmills anywhere, located at Kinderdijk.
The sunset at Oia, on the top of Santorini, casts a warm glow over the traditionally white buildings. Photos like these are cliches, but so what - it's so popular because it's so good, and lives up to the hype.
