Schwedagon from the 20th floor restaurant in the Sakura building, downtown Yangon. Costs $5 USD for a great 4 course meal and the views are fantastic.
Some wicked old British Empire buildings in downtown Yangon. Doing the Lonely Planet walking tour and it is HOT HOT HOT!!!
Huge ad in Yangon street. I'll have copious amounts of that, please.
Taking a walk round downtown Yangon and saw these delicacies for sale at a few kyat a GAG. Don't know the beast and don't recognise the entrails, and my father was a butcher. Gave this street vendor a smile, took the pic and marched on hurriedly due to the smell. What a interesting place!!!
LP's recommended Sandy's Myanmar Cuisine beside Kandawgyi Lake. Had the ducks eggs stuffed with minced prawns, meat-filled claypot and two large ice-cold Myanmar beers. Haven't felt homesick yet.
Flew Bangkok to Yangon 6 p.m. March 8th. Next day and night visited Schwedagon Paya. Ninety+ metres tall, covered in 60 tons of gold leaf with a huge diamond at the top. One of the greatest sights in the world.
The majestic Shwedagon (ie. Golden Dagon) Pagoda taken in the late afternoon, Rangoon, Myanmar. This structure dominates the Rangoon skyline from every vantage point. It has to be seen to be believed!
