Although the Uros - a Peruvian tribe, living on floating reed islands on Lake Titicaca - still build and maintain the traditional huge reed boats for tourist purposes, for speedy transport from place to place they themselves seem to prefer the more familiar rowboat. In the background you can see several of their reed buildings on some of these floating islands.
Entry to the glass dome on top of the Reichstag is free, and so going up there is a very popular activity with the tourists, often leading to near-endless lines. Pity the people standing in this particular line, as they had to deal with freezing wind, and not half an hour after the photo was taken, it started snowing.
Storm clouds racing by, I stood as mesmerized in front of Schloss Charlottenburg, waiting for those rare seconds when a break in the clouds would perfectly line up with the sun to make the building glow with a rare light. Nearly froze my fingers off, but it was worth every second of waiting.
Inside the glass dome of the Reichstag at night, looking down on the mirror-cone and the main hall of the parliament
Climbing the rocks between the viewing platform and Bridalveil Falls, far above the tourist crowds, and beyond even where most daring teenagers go, one can arrive at a point where you can look down upon the hidden pool at the base of the falls. Rainbows shimmer all around you, and the spray of the water shifts about constantly, showing you an entirely new waterfall every single moment. Truly gorgeous...
Grouse Mountain overlooks Vancouver, and can be reached in very short time by public transport - any sunny day during the winter sees hordes of locals flooding here for snowboarding and skiing.
After another rainy February day, the white sails of Canada Place were the first to catch the rays of the sun finally breaking through the clouds, offering gorgeous contrast with the dark rainclouds retreating behind it.
An oasis of quiet reflection set amidst the bustle of Vancouver's Chinatown.
The classic shot of the Dutch flowerfields in bloom.
Verily, every tale you have ever heard about it is true. Fear its fearsomeness, for this is the real mythical platypus!
After the Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, these gorgeous Rainbow Lorikeets are my favorite Australian birds ever. You can find them everywhere from Cairns to Melbourne, and I absolutely love the deafening noise with which they greet sunset.
Getting way too close for comfort to this huge saltwater croc on the Daintree River.
Very low visibility when I was at the Great Barrier Reef :( - but I guess stylistic photos like these can be nice, too. :)
Moments after arriving in Kuranda on the Skyrail, I noticed a stand of red ginger flowers, blazing forth their pure red colors in the bright sunlight. Swaying gently in the wind, photographing them proved to be quite a challenge; but perseverance won out. I'm glad it did, as seeing these colors still makes me happy.
