Travel Photography > Photos taken by diabolical
Vanna's son, Thavika, made me this at school...Khmers have this cute custom of making present giving a very formal ceremony with each present requiring a separate photo...I have about 10 photos with each UNIAP staff member handing me a present!
It's a tradition (believe it or not!) on the occasion of your wedding to go and get these garish shots...wedding or not, seeing as I was leaving town the crew decided we would go subject ourselves to 4 hours of Cambodian dress-ups and maximum Photoshop-bang-for-your-buck! So here we are...in an exciting collection of 80s-inspired hairstyles and tasteful backdrops...with our very own 19th century Colonel Mitchell straight from exploring Cambodia astride an elephant...apparently we are hanging in the photo studio to the delight of giggling Cambodians as living proof of how crazy those barangs can be ;)
Kallun you should have been here!!
Please note the backward-Siem Reap postcard onto which we have been photoshopped...and our gorgeous hair, ranging from attaching rats to Beth, Jackie and my heads and Deb's 'deb' hair 80s style (no pun intended ;)
Colonel Mitchell and his Cambodian bride...please take special note of the classically simple leaf backdrop, highly popular amongst newlyweds
The freezing water was a shock after Thailand's lukewarm ocean swimming!
Lovingly 'prepared' by my gorgeous flattie Cass...can you believe there is actually a cake shop in Phnom Penh??
The hard core fuglies of the night...
My fuglicious flatties L-R Cassie, Karen and moi
What are those naughty barangs up to...?
