This wine store is found inside one of the oldest warehouses in Faversham. The beams are said to have been salvaged from the abbey destroyed by King Henry VIII
A feature of medieval British architecture is the 'jetty' where the 2nd floor overhangs the ground floor. This allowed more square footage in the days when home owners were taxed based on the square footage of the ground floor. This jetty is apparently extra crafty as it overhangs in both directions - something made possible with a diagonal brace known as a "Dragon Beam".
From c. late 17th century, this is said to be one of the oldest surviving warehoues in Britain. The roof is thought to be made from remains of the Faversham Abbey
