Myself and Tarryn at the Durban July.
Having lost all our cash on useless horses, we partied the night away at Tilt's club tent at the Durban Greyville race course.
Dressed to the nines! From L to R, Kate, Me, Scott, Gen, at Durban July Horse Racing.

Before the rush. These three wonderful nurses are our translators for Clinics. 3 consultations take place in this small room at the same time.
This is me making an incision so that a K wire can be removed. A K wire is a type of thin metal rod which is drilled into a bone to hold it together when broken.
The Artery has now been sutured back together and is functional. A drug to break up blood clots has been passed down the artery to clear it.
This man was stabbed in the elbow. The blade cut his brachial artery (splits to supplies both arteries to the hand - your pulses), you can see one end disected out.
On Call again, this chap was shot by the more common low velocity 9mm pistol round. You can see fragments have lodged in his upper left abdomen (top r of picture). This caused more damage as the full energy of the heavier bullet was absorbed by the body.
Finally, before closing you must wash out the abcess area with antiseptic wash and a syringe, before inserting wound drains and bandaging
Once all of the pus is drained (see video link - we got 1.5 litres) you haveto remove all of the infected tissue with your finger.
This is me, scrubbed up to perform my first ever operation - incision and drainage of a thigh abcess.
This is a CT (Computer generated picture with X ray) of a man who had a Pseudocyst from his pancreas - we drained over 7litres of fluid from his stomach!!!
2hrs north of Ngwelezana is St Lucia and its game reserve and wetlands. We spent Sunday on the Beach and snorkling. One highlight was seeing Stingray.
Whilst on call on Saturday we operated on this man who had been shot with a high velocity 7.62mm sniper round. Miraculously the bullet caused very little damage, grazing his liver and punching a hole in his large intestine. 2cm higher and he wouldn't have
