A garden to please his queen

The ancient history of development garden has been traced to the 2nd century. However, It is here that Emperor Jahangir built his celebrated Shalimar Bagh in 1619, his dream project to please his queen Nur Jahan. Located on the shores of Dal Lake, this beautifully terraced garden Shalimar Garden in Srinagar adds to the beauty of Kashmir. It is called Shalimar Bagh, in which "Bagh" would mean "garden" in Urdu.
