Travel Photography Photos tagged as medieval Dragon Beam (Arden House) - Faversham
A feature of medieval British architecture is the 'jetty' where the 2nd floor overhangs the ground floor. This allowed more square footage in the days when home owners were taxed based on the square footage of the ground floor. This jetty is apparently extra crafty as it overhangs in both directions - something made possible with a diagonal brace known as a "Dragon Beam".
