The Thunderbirds start their air show.

The USAF Air Demonstration Squadron or the Thunderbirds take to the air. Formed in 1953 at Luke AFB in Arizona, they moved to Nellis AFB in 1956. The name Thunderbirds was picked because of the SW location and the legend of the thunderbird. Invincible and unchallenged in the air, a thunderbird reigns supreme.
