Coca no es cocaina

Coca is no cocaine, says a popular Bolivian song. Coca is a vital part of the working class of several Andean countries, but also the source of a very troubled relation with northern countries who do not seem to like the subtility of this distinction. Dried and fiscalized in certain designated "traditional coca growing areas", the coca is transported to every town market in Bolivia, where it is sold together with lejía (paste made of ash, starch and salt) and cigarettes.
