Sunning of the Buddha

Sunning of the Buddha Festival at Ta'er Lamasery in Qinghai Province takes place each July. A huge tapestry is carried to a hillside and displayed for a few hours, ending in prayers and chanting by the monks. Then masked dancing follows. This is at the monastery where Dalai Lama was trained as a child before being taken to Lhasa to live in the Potala.
