Cape Farewell

The northernmost point of New Zealand's South Island viewed from a flight from Christchurch to Auckland. The 32 km sand spit encompasses Golden Bay where Dutch enavigator Abel Tasman anchored his ships in 1642, introducing the first European contact with these lonely Isles.
