Treating the sick...

Draped in the white linen is a sick child who is being "treated" by a monk, chanting prayers while conducting a ritual.Consent was sought before I proceeded to video tape as well as photograph the ceremony in Kompong Phluk, a village on stilts by the banks of Rolous River in Siem Reap. The ceremony, in the blistering heat of the noonday sun, lasted about half an hour.While chanting prayers, the monk walked around the child,stopping to sweep the leafy twigs over the linen, and pouring "holy water" over the child's head. The child's (a boy) family members and siblings watched the ceremony...
