Born in Cardiff, Wales, Steve Andrews lived there until the end of 2004 when he relocated to Tenerife in the Canary Islands. He used to live on the Ely estate and Big Issue magazine, in which he had a regular column, dubbed him the Bard of Ely, knowing that he is a singer-songwriter and poet, as well as a freelance writer and author.
Bard of Ely has appeared at the Glastonbury and Green Man Festivals in the UK and has his songs released on several albums on various small labels. He was a compère for the Avalon Stage at Glastonbury in 2002 and 2003.
In 1998, he was a co-presenter for two series of the television magazine In Full View on BBC Choice.
Under his real name, he is the author of Herbs of the Northern Shaman (O-Books) and has written for many publications including Kindred Spirit, Permaculture, Living Tenerife, Feed Your Brain, National Federation of Occupational Pensioners and Prediction magazines and the Tenerife News newspaper.
