I just turned 25 and still haven't figured out what I want to do when I grow up. There are just too many things. So I figured the best thing to do was leave the country and put off the decision as long as possible.
I graduated from the University of Oregon and have worked for a non-profit in Mexico putting together wheelchairs for disabled children and adults, I've built and remodeled houses, and I've worked in the Oregon legislature. As you can see, I'm lacking clear direction.
Latin America has always piqued my interest. In college I studied abroad in Chile and traveled afterward in Bolivia and Peru. Then I was lucky enough to do a research project in the Ecuadorian Amazon and work for the non-profit in Mexico. My goal is to build on those experiences, get back into speaking Spanish, and find some good volunteer opportunities along the way, doing anything from teaching English to helping with local building projects.
