I have travelled, lived and taught at a University in China. Lived in China/Japan and Korea for 4 years. More than happy to help anyone China is very cheap and an amazing place BUT foreigners are always getting ripped-off and tours are often too restrictive/expensive. I would suggest travelling with a Chinese University Student (majoring in English), pay them a small fee directly each day.
