Traveling is like voting - one should do it early and often
I've been married to the same wonderful guy for 27 years and we have 2 grown children (ages 21 and 26).
I've traveled to France (Paris, Nice & Provence), Africa (Senegal and The Gambia in West Africa), Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice, Lucca, Pisa), Scotland, and Mexico (only in the two northern states of Sonora and Baja California), and through most of the United States.
I speak enough Mandinka, Italian, and Polish to be completely useless in trying to communicate in those languages. For example, in Polish I cannot do much more than count to 20 and say "twenty airports." How useful is that? My Spanish and French are at very elemental levels, but good enough to get around.
The places I most want to visit next are Poland, India, Ireland, China, and Vietnam.
Traveling, doing crossword puzzles and reading are my only real hobbies other than photography. I love to read about different places around the world I'd like to visit!

11 Mar 2008 - 08 Apr 2008
Visiting: USA, France, Senegal and Gambia.
I can recommend specific lodging options in Rome, Florence and Venice as well as transportation recommendations. I spent one week in Rome, one week in Venice, and three weeks in Florence - so my best advice on local info will be for Florence.
Advice, especially for women, on cultural particulars to be aware of in this country. Can also offer help with learning and understanding basic greetings in Mandinka.
