Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, I grew up in a diverse suburban community that introduced me to people from around the globe from an early age. My parents were avid travelers and taught my sister and I about the enrichment that traveling could bring to our lives. Growing up, I was fortunate to attend private schools where among my peers were Muslims from both Iran and Africa, Buddhists from China, and Orthodox Jews. Some of my peers had been born in their native countries and during their childhood one or both of their parents were sent on assignments to the United States for some international company so many of them spoke several languages. Their various religions and backgrounds offered unique perspectives on art, culture, and dining that I came to thoroughly appreciate as I got older. This upbringing has been a major contributor to my passion for travel and the driving force in my intense need to understand, experience and learn from all corners of the human race.
By the time I left for college, I was fortunate enough to have had traveled to ten countries. With that in mind, It was always on a strict budget. For those of you who share the travel bug, you know how often we make sacrifices (when we probably shouldn't) because we've just "got to take this cruise!", "climb that mountain!", or "taste a famous local dish!" This travel blog has been a long time coming and it offers insight into some of my own travels as well as offering my friends and readers some tips and resources that I have found useful. I hope that you enjoy it and invite you to share your own experiences with your comments because the best journeys derive from the voices of those who have been there before.
