A bit of free spirit, a touch of curiosity, a yearning to slow down from London life and a severe case of ‘the travel bug’.
It’s this (wonderful/potent?) mix that led us to come up with our grand plan of taking five months out from working, commuting and the stresses of everyday hustle and bustle in a big city.
We met as friends, we travelled. We dated long distance, we travelled. We got married, we honeymooned around the world and haven’t stopped since. Together, we’ve been to the far corners of the Earth and just can’t seem to get enough of it so, naturally, we’re off for more!
We have some very special memories of our travels. And it will be of no surprise to most of you, that many of them centre around food and wine. The fabulous meal at the chef’s table in Cape Town… Eating Poisson Cru with a bottle of Californian on our honeymoon in French Polynesia looking out a a stunning star-filled sky… Our stay at Le Sorghenti in the Tuscan hills with the outstanding asparagus risotto and the exceptional wines from the estate… These memories will remain with us forever and are reminders that in between career and day-to-day responsibilities, sometimes you really just need to take the time to enjoy the stuff you love the most.
So, as we set out on this trip, you better believe that the pursuit of outstanding food and drink will be top of the list. We’ll even keep you posted on what all delights we manage to sample with special set of posts devoted to the subject!
Together with some of our very closest friends over New Years this past year, we unanimously resolved for “reignition” this year. Reignition in our appetite, not just for exception food and marvelous wine, but also in our lust for life, our desire for adventure and our willingness to let lose and not forget to have a good time. Hopefully this blog will pay testament to our desire to do just that.
