When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it. Paulo Coelho
I've taught 2nd grade in Anchorage, Alaska for the last 8 years. After much reflecting and inspiration from a book called Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting, I've decided to take a leave of absence and live overseas for a year. I will be travelling through Central and South America. I want to volunteer, get lost in new communities, experience the world by learning how others deal with their surroundings. Many people think I'm crazy (they wouldn't be entirely wrong) but this is something I've been wanting to do for a while. It's amazing how focusing on a goal and putting it out there brings amazing, magical results. I believe that friends, family, chance meetings, wild weirdness, random finds and the circus of life have led me to follow the path that I have choosen to make. Options are endless and I'm so eager to embrace this grand adventure.
Traveling to new places, listening to music that makes me think differently or strikes a cord deep within my soul, reading a good book on the beach, having discusions that usually end in complete confusion, being silly, making people laguh, laughing until my belly hurts.
Rose gardens, the great outdoors, mountaintops, rivers, lakes, ski slopes, coffee shops, cobblestone sidewalks, bookstores, sidewalk cafes, friends couches, the open raod, new cities, small airplanes, my tent ~ tranquility.
