I spent 3 years living/working in a rural town in Japan (and travelling). Travelled a fair amount around Asia, particularly Thailand (2 months, volunteered in rural Kanchanaburi)Laos and China. I'll do what I can to help re. advice on where to go,what to take, culture etc and might be able to point you in the right direction for other info. If I can help others have similarly amazing experiences, then that'd be just grand!
