After breakfast, we loaded up a bus with our luggage and headed to the airport for our flight to Aswan. There were lots of tourists taking this flight, only some of which were with our tour company. And with our tour company, there are at least 3 different groups, with slightly different itineraries or accommodations etc. The flight was late and when we finally arrived in Aswan our bus was late as well. But it did arrive and our box lunches were delivered (which had enough food in them for two lunches each!). We drove a very short way to spend a little while at the Aswan High Dam. It is an amazing construction and Don found it very interesting to finally see it after hearing about it for years.

We then drove to a dock where we took a boat out to an island, which has the reconstructed Temple of Philae. This Temple was almost completely submerged when the dam was built, but with the help of UNESCO, the temple was moved to a higher island and over 8 years put back together. It is so covered in carvings it is quite fantastic.

Carvings everywhere!

Riding in the boat
We stayed on the island until closing at 5:00 and then back in the bus to drive into Aswan and move onto our cruise ship, the Medea. This will be our home for the next three nights as we cruise down the Nile. We got settled in and had supper. They even had a belly dancer perform after supper for our entertainment.
