Off to Belém today, which is a district in Lisboa that's on the Tagus River. We walk through a lovely big park along the river and then to the Monument of Discoveries soaring high on the river bank celebrating the big names in world discovery in the 15-16th centuries (Vasco da Gama, Henry the Navigator, Magellan).

Then we walk across the road and buy tickets for Mosterio dos Jerónimos which is a Monastery built to celebrate Vasco da Gama finding the sea route to India in the late 1400’s and was populated by the monks of the Order of St Jerome. It is simply stunning, quite amazing. Interesting row of many confessional doors here that were used quite regularly by the Monks apparently (although not Bob!). We also went through the church attached with some important tombs including of Luis de Camões and Vasco da Gama himself.

A big day going through the Monastery so in the end we headed home for a rest before heading back out to go to Time Out Market (again) for dinner. I had a nice dry Rose (v nice) and Bob had a Coruja IPA (what he has been drinking here). I had the Seafood Rice dish (👍👍) and Bob a Pizza (no not local but still 👍👍), and another round of drinks.
We chatted with a mum and her two daughters from Switzerland. One daughter was doing her last year of Uni and the other finished Uni a couple of years ago but was working experiencing the world a bit before she decided what she would finally do. Mum was a primary school teacher who taught French, German and Mathematics - and also a special group of high IQ students - so interesting. Finished off with a Medio Gelato of 3 flavors each (of course 😁 and 👍👍👍), and then Metro back home and off to bed.
