Bournemouth, capital of ther Jurassic Coast?

Travelled down to Bournemouth on Wednesday. It is situated on what is known as the Jurassic coast of England. No, there ain’t no dinosaurs, but apparently it is an area rich in prehistoric fossils. Bournemouth itself is no fossil though. It’s a vibrant seaside town. Judging by the number of hotels situated on its sea front, looks to be a popular spot in the summer. Not a lot to the town itself, but it is pleasant to stroll around. The area around the pier looks to be the destination of choice in summer.

Lonely beach - it IS the middle of winter after all
Seeing as how we had the car, we explored a bit of the coast to the west of Bournemouth. No, didn't see any dinosaurs, or do any fossil digging. In fact, if it wasn't mentioned in guidebooks, you wouldn't know it was an area known for jurassic history. But it is a beautiful area to explore, the highlight being Corfe Castle and its associated village. Castle was closed, but you could admire its ruins from the village itself.

Once again we have been fortunate with the weather. Cold? Yes. Windy? Sometimes. But no rain to speak of. We have been able to get out and walk the town. Do a bit of shopping, a bit of coffeeing, some sightseeing. It's a lovely area to explore. But move on we must. So today we are heading off to London where spend a few days, meet up with Warren and Jake, and then head up to Edinburgh to spend Xmas with Lorine and Boyd.
