4 Reasons to Become a Travellerspoint Supporting Member

Community Highlights Travellerspoint 4 Reasons to Become a Travellerspoint Supporting Member

Travellerspoint helps people share and organise their travels. You can create a travel plan before your trip, map it out to get a nice overview, discuss your plans in our forums and blog about your trip while you're on the road. All this is offered for free.

But sometimes people want more. And that's where the Travellerspoint Supporting Membership comes in.

It's called a Supporting Membership because it's largely designed as a way for regular members to help support the daily operations of the site and provide a stable source of income that covers the costs of running this service. It also allows us to offer some features that would be too hard to offer to everyone for free. If you are considering signing up for this level of membership, this post will help you get an idea of what it offers.

1. Removal of Ads. This includes ads that you see on Travellerspoint when logged in, but also ads that are shown on your blog to your blog's readers. So if you don't want to burden your readers with ads, signing up as a Supporting Member is the way to do that.

2.Private Blogging If you would like to start a blog but only want certain people to see that blog, then private blogging allows that. You can set an access password for your blog and share that password with only those people who you want to be given access.

3. Custom Embedded Map Styles If you are embedding your Travellerspoint map on an external website, or if you are using the map on your Travellerspoint blog, you will be given the option to show your map using different styles. There are currently 7 additional styles to choose from. If you would like to see what those styles look like, you can do so via the following links - they all show the same map, just with the different style applied

In addition to being able to style the look of the maps, you will also be able to toggle on some content that others can't. For example, on most stops to reasonably well known places, you'll generally see a snippet from the Travellerspoint guide with information about that place. As a Supporting Member you can turn off this snippet. This mostly is for people embedding their map on other sites where they would prefer to link to their own content.

4. Moblogging This feature will give you a custom email address that allows you to email in your blog entries rather than log on to the site. It can be good if it takes you a little while to compose your entry and you like having a copy stored in draft on your own computer.

Those are really the main benefits provided to Supporting Members.

It's also important to note that the membership is a subscription service. It costs either US$3 / month or US$30 / year and will be automatically renewed until you unsubscribe.

I hope that helps give you a better idea of what the Supporting Membership offers. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch via one of the following means
