I liked Lucerne, and we did the trip up to Mt. Pilatus via cable car and gondola (so much fun), visited the Lion Bridge and had a great time. Have also stayed in Lausanne in the west part and Lugano among other cities in Switzerland. Don't discount Austria either if you want to visit the Alps.

yes. very true. I was there 15 years ago and i always wish to be back again. Perhaps i will take my 14 year old daughter to Switzerland this summer .:)

Hiii Kate.....let me help you in this..For an ideal base to explore the Alps, perfer Interlaken. Nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, it offers easy access to Jungfrau, Eiger and Monch peaks. Alternatively Zermatt, with its breathtaking views of the Matterhorn, is another excellent choice for a memorable Alpine.
