hi there people of TravellersPoint!

after much consideration, i have decided to go to oz solo as id like to experience it all without the help of one of these companies.

so im just wondering, how easy it is to find work? specifically the fruit picking side ( i like the idea of being outside enjoying the view whilst i work!). i know Oz is hot most of the time but does the season affect what type of fruit picking jobs are available? or if they are available at all?

im planning on going the coming January '15, or if its too busy then in early February '15. ill have around 4 - 5 k when i get there but i want to be able to start working to top the funds up rather than wait till ive burnt out my wallet and then try look for a job!

p.s. is it true that you stay on the fruit picking farms while you work or is that a massive rumor?

The Harvest Trail website has a PDF for download (the National Harvest Guide), which lists per region of the country what type of fruit picking is available at what time of the year. Pretty detailed. Should give you a good idea of when to go where for work, or just what's available around where you plan to be.
