Hello everyone,

For this summer me and my roommate are planning a road trip to the East Coast. Don't really know where to start so I thought I'd post here. We are starting from Houston, TX and will have New Jersey and New York (basically the northeast) as the destination. I have never been across to the East Coast so I was wondering what are some must see things that you suggest that we stop by along with some places that people don't usually don't go to or miss. We have only two weeks or so for this trip so I want to get the most out of it. I like to see natural scenic types of places the most (along with quaint seaside towns and things like that) and my roommate likes the urban scene with breweries, bars, etc. It would be great to get a balance between the two. Also any road trip tips, suggestions to save money, or anything at all are appreciated.

More information provided if needed.

Some of the interesting places between Houston and New York are:
1) New Orleans
2) Memphis for Graceland and Jazz
3) Nashville for country music and the Hermitage
4) Montecello (near Charlottesville, Virginia)
5) Williamsburg--site of original founders of the country
6) Washington, DC--nation's capital has lots of sites (White House, the Capitol, Bureau of printing and engraving, FBI building, and nearby is Mount Vernon)
7) Anapolis, Maryland
8} Baltimore--Fells Point, Little Italy, the aquarium, and the Inner Harbor area
9) Philadelphia or Atlantic City

Enjoy your trip.
