Buy LP-CA.
I had been traveling from Cancun by bus and will "start from San Jose";Costa Rica and I choose the Caribbean coast for my travel to Panama.
I would'nt say my way was the easest but if you want cheap travel, smelly joints,great beaches,lovely chickos then follow !!!!!me!!
San Pedro(Univ Area) in San Jose is the place for the smell????,you can smell it walking the street and good night life.
Jumped a bus to Puerto Limon 0700hrs,3hrs,1500Col and stayed Hotel King,7$ and enjoyed very friendly Limon town,as did Chris Columbus.
Jumped bus to Cahuita,1.5hrs,cannot remember where i stayed? but had a great night,ended up in Coco's bar, smell of joints everywhere!!
Jumped bus 0900hrs and arrived Puerto Viejo,0940,stayed Cabinas Corazon Caribe,10$,great beaches and Reggae bars.
Jumped bus 0840,750Col to Sixaola at Panama border and walked across bridge to Guabito,Panama and jumped a minibus,3$ to Changumala then speedboat,5$ to Bocas del Toro and what a wonderful happy relaxing place with great beaches and stayed Calla 4,Casa Amarolla,Con la escalera,Hermana el Clanral,5$ for ?????? days before hitting the road towards Panama City!!!!!!;
Next ep'lsode Manyanna!!!

I travelled jan/feb this year.
Cannot believe I done this but thats life, when I started remembering it all came back!!!!!!!!!!!!Starting Boca del Toro; Panama.
In and around Boca Toro their had been heavy rain for a week resulting in hugh MUD landslides,I even got cut off by one when some of us took a bus along the coast and to get back we had to walk through mud upto our knees and catch a relief bus other side,saved paying for mud bath!!!!
Anyway their was no way out,relief bus to David was taking 6hrs, and if i had stayed in Boca Toro any longer I would not have left,it was that good.
I booked a prop plane flight to David,25$ but it got canceled last min so at airport jumped plane to Panama City,58$,(
and booked into Turistico Volcan,12$,with access to nextdoor swiming pool,but their is an OLIMPIC size swiming pool 2 blocks away as their is also lots of Hotels,resturunts and Hookers around the area;oh la la,I WAS HAPPY.
Went to Panama Canal(only go in the afternoon as thats when big liners come through),lots of cheap shops to see in walking street and upmarket Mall Centro then a 1$ taxi upto via espana/via argentina;El Canrejo area then Caso Antigo but only go in the morning before the hoods get up as its a tourist robbery area and their is armed police about!!!
I stayed 4 days in Panama,great place and lots to see,changed Hotel 2nd day to Residancial El Paraisa,1 blk away from last hotel as room to stuffy for me, I dont like AC, I like an open window!!
So wishing you a happy trip and Good Luck and ALL THE BEST on "YOUR TRAVELS."
