my husband and I are looking to travel Chile, Argentina and maybe Uruguay (the itinerary isn't closed yet ;) ) in august for a month.
i'v heard that it is not a good time to travel to those country because it's winter in those months.
i was wondering if anyone here had traveled to those countries in august and can tell me about their trip? is it at all possible to travel there in the winter? are natural reserves open at those months ? can you go hiking? will public transportation isn't working as well as in the summer ? how cold is it rerally? :)

and mostly, should we go to those countries or just travel in brazil, Mexico?

In August, you can easily visit the north of these countries: Iguazu, Salta and surroundings in North Argentina, Arica and San Pedro de Atacama in North Chile. For the rest, it's just winter! And it is colder and colder (and windy) when you go South.
Buesnos Aires with cold and rain :(! Patagonia as a winter expedition . Better wait October to go there!!
