Hey All, I'm travelling to Australia at the beginning of September & going to be there till the middle of June. I'm flying out to Brisbane since I have some family friend there so they'll help me get settled to aussie life. Going to get a bit of work whilst I'm up there and then after a couple of months make my way down to Sydney travelling down the east coast, stopping off at all the usual places along the way & picking up jobs as I travel down. Ideally I want to spend 3-5 months in Sydney so will be looking for jobs a lot in and around the Sydney area so if anyone knows of any good places/websites then let me know. I'd also like to visit Melbourne for a few weeks and if given the chance/time/money travel over to New Zealand for a couple of weeks.

I'm a 22 year old male from Leeds and will have not long graduated uni. Going to travel Oz on my own which is quite scary/crazily exciting at the same time if possible since I've never lived on my own let alone travelled anywhere on my own, but I might as well throw myself in at the deep end hadn't I? So yeah, any advice on anything Australia related is more than welcome. Would be great if anyone else is heading out towards the end of the year and wants to chat/meet up along the way. Especially any other solo travellers so we aren't all alone on the other side of the world!!!

Throwing yourself in at the deep end is the best way!! In for a penny, in for a pound!

I will be heading out there end of September, by myself. I'm doing it the other way round to you, starting in sydney and working my way up! Maybe we will meet in the middle somewhere!!

Have ye got your visa and flight all sorted?

Tell me about it, I think that's why I'm so excited about it because I haven't done anything like it as of yet.

Have you travelled on your own before or will this be your first time? Maybe we will, I'm hoping to spend only a couple of months up in Brisbane and most of my remaining months in Sydney, so I might even see you in Sydney.

Yesssss, I've got my visa sorted and my flights are just about sorted, should have them sorted and confirmed by the end of the week. Have you got all of yours sorted?

Its soooooo exciting yet it seems so far away.

Have you got any real plans in mind of what you want to do whilst you're over there then?

Hiya guys,

I am travelling to Sydney at the end of June on a WHV, heading straight up to Cairns/ Port Douglas/Cape Tribulation for some sun before heading back down the East Coast slowly to Sydney in Aug/Sept to find work and somewhere to live.

Luke I am the same as you I would like to spend some time in Melbourne seeing the sights there and I want to head over to NZ and Fiji if possible. Are you heading to Sydney around September time or is that when you start in Brisbane?

So friend is coming with me for 8 days of holiday and then leaves me to fend for myself

Hi I am also going to Sydney in September probably will be spending a few months there as I will need to get a job and save some more money before I move on I really want to visit Melbourne as well.
I haven't booked anything yet still looking at flights and things. Totally jumping in the deep end by myself also scary but exciting! Never anywhere on my own aaah!
I was looking at gap360 where you do a week of trips and stuff with them but don't know whether just to go and do everything alone!
