Hello,

My husband and I are doing research on moving to Europe, and have been considering Austria.
We have wanted to move to Europe for as long as we have known each other, and agree that when we have children that it would be better for them to have the cultural experience of living in a country other than the USA.

From what we have read, Austria seems like a good choice, but I want to hear from the people that have been there or currently live there.

We want to live in a place Relatively close to the main city, but I have heard mixed reviews about Vienna and its affordability.

We would like to stay around $1,000 USD/ month for an apartment or house
We would like to be within 30 minutes driving distance of a big city (I am unsure how close everything is in Europe)
And those are our only requirements. We are going to be traveling to Europe early next year to figure out where we would like to go and scope out the cities we want to live in.
My husband is in the US air force, and we are going to try to get him posted on one of the bases in Austria if it comes available, Which would then get him a work visa. I am a freelance interior designer and would likely continue the work that I do now from home.

so if you could just tell us about your experience living there, the friendliness of the people, if you had children and the ease of childcare there, how healthcare works, etc.

If you have not been/lived in austria but know of some great places in europe that have what we are looking for, please let us know!
