Hi all,

I have 6 weeks to travel the East Coast of Aus and I can't choose between Oz Experience or Greyhound.

I am 27 solo female traveller from UK.

Greyhound is a lot cheaper, however as I am on my own I am worried that i will get lonely as I have read Oz experience is good for meeting people?

I do like a night out and a drink but I also don't want to be surrounded everyday by drunk 18 year olds!

HELP

You should have no trouble whatsoever meeting people at whichever hostels you'll stay at. Especially on the east coast, 50% of the people you'll meet will end up travelling in the same direction as you're going, and should be hitting a lot of the same destinations (though the time they all have available for doing this will vary a lot). I'd personally recommend (and this is what I did myself as well) saving your money and taking the Greyhound.

An additional reason not to take the Oz Experience is that most people on each bus are likely to rush from destination, because they'll want to stay with the group of people they've just gotten to know, rather than staying behind and having to integrate in an already formed group on the next bus.

Huh, apparently the Oz Experience isn't a thing with separate busses anymore! It's now just a brand name for Greyhound passes for popular routes. That means you'll be on Greyhound busses with mixed company regardless!, and can really skip the more expensive "oz experience" branding with included tours.

Oh, also, look for regional alternatives to travel between destinations. It's quite possible for those to still be a bit cheaper than Greyhound.

Greyhound now own oz ex so frangoldie take alook at greyhound bus passes and also premier bus pass that one is a cheaper option.
difference is premier go once per day and do not have free wifi but if you are on a budget is alot cheaper.
As far as meeting people you will meet them in your hostels and trips etc so dont worry about that ok.
here is a list of costs for greyhound and premier if you need more help feel free to message me
greyhound
cairns to sydney $419
cairns to melbourne $509 but you can make cheaper by doing cairns to sydney then firefly bus from sydney to melbourne total cost then would be $484.
premier cairns to sydney $295 then to melbourne with firefly (as premier dont go to melbourne) $65 total$360 so that would be a lot cheaper if your on a tight budget:)
