Hello old beans,
Sorry to be a bored, just got a couple of questions about the inca trail, i know there are probably thousands of threads on here but time is money and all that! How much does it cost to do the inca trail, been looking on the web and some of the prices are around $250, which seems a bit steep to me??? Also if anyone has done it recently, can u recommend any good companies to go with(i know ur not suppose to advertise and all, just give us a hint!).

P.S. do u have to bring ur own sleeping bag??

I'm heading down there in about 2 weeks. I think my trek is going to run me around $250-$300 (I've only paid the deposit thus far) and I'm not sure how much cheaper you can find. I imagine you might be able to drop the price but there may be certain standards that go down as well. I can probably tell you more after-the-fact.

Anyway, since the thread was started, I was wondering if anyone who is in Peru at the moment can tell me what sort of weather to prepare for come mid-May. I understand it can get pretty nippy, but I also don't want to over-pack (a constant battle for me).

I think form what I have heard it is very important which company you go with. I am doing it on the 22nd May, and since form being on TP I booked United Mice. I think it is the most expensive company, but i have heard that they are very good on my travels.
I met a bloke yesterday that did the trial with a cheapo company, he paid $108 US, i know cheap isnt it!, but he hated the whole trip as the food was awful, and generally the guides were rubbish etc..
I say pay a bit more, maybe not as much as me, its worked out as 180 quid i think but defo go with a good company.
