Hello,

We are starting our around the world trip in September 2016. We will be away for approximately 9 months and our last destination will be India. Our question is about our Indian visas. They only issue them with 6 months validity and therefore we will need to apply for them once we are away. Does anyone know where we can do this? Our destinations prior to India are South America, New Zealand and South East Asia. We just wondered whether anyone had any experience of this/advice!

Thank you in advance.

Apply for a visa online: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html

Check the Government of India Web site for the requirements.

Always a good idea to check out the Visa situation for the countries you are traveling in.

Visa as you know are based on nationality and in addition to this they can be from date of issue which sometimes can be a problem.

The Indian Visa is from date of issue but watch out for the one you can get online because it only allows a number of days before landing in the country.
Check the entry requirement from the Embassy or consulate site as you travel because requirements can change.
What I would suggest you do is look at the cities where there are consulates or agencies where you can apply within the route you are traveling. Have the photos with you and any information they require.
When we did our first RTW trip we applied in Bangkok, you fill the forms supply the photos and go back a couple of days later, so allow for this if you are booking ahead.
The cost is based on nationality, for UK citizens it's about £90

I guess you have done your research but I'll just through this in for information.
Everyone travels by train it's cheap but buy from the local station not from an agent because they put a big markup on the ticket price and always book AC, third class non AC is not good. Book in advance you'll get more choice of seats or sleepers.

Best of luck in your travels and keep safe,
