Planning a road trip from UK to South Africa

There are a few 'adventure' travel forums that would probably have more recent info on routes.
Try Horizonsunlimited.com (2 and 4+ wheeled travel) whilst advrider.com is more 2 wheel orientated but I'm sure there would be people doing that (or similar) routes.

I’m guessing COVID put a stop to your Trans-Africa planning too? I’m hoping to get onto the same route before the end of the year ? as it’s just a few countries which are still closed. I know this can change at anytime for the good or bad and I know the timing is madness but I bet if you spoke to anyone that’s actually done it you have to be a little off your rocker right ?

Go on Facebook and search for a forum on East Africa travel that you can join for updated information on the route you plan to take.

I participate in a forum for West Africa travellers and find it helpful. For example, I was alerted to the deaths of NGO workers in Niger before I read it in the news hours later. I also get regular COVID-19 updates, too, such as those on travel restrictions. Many forum participants live and work in West Africa.

I continue to work on plans to travel in Africa and have contacts there.
