I haven't been there for years and years so I'm completely out of date.
What's the status of Sharia Law there now? By that I mean how much does it impact foreign tourists, if at all? (Besides the usual no importation of alcohol and modest dress away from the all-inclusive beaches.)
Thanks.
Cheers,
Terry
I haven't been to Maldives and in fact it's one of my dreams to actually go to there anytime soon. I've heard that it's pretty hard to make a reservation especially during peak seasons. I'm actually attracted to beautiful beaches and reefs that's why I think Maldives is one of the best destinations for beach lovers.
I would like to ask how much I need to bring with me to stay in Maldives in 3 days 2 nights? Thanks.

Well, I don't know when you was. But since 2011 we have budget accommodation in local islands. Price starts from 30-40$ per room, per night with BB and taxes (taxes right now is 10% GST and 11,2 Service Charge). So from year to year more and more tourists visit Maldives.
Nature is amazing as it was 10-20 years ago, tourists don't affect much.
Alcohol still prohibited, but more and more maldivian yang women wear modern dresses if that you mean.
Cheers,

Hi,
Yes, it's true. During peak season it's very hard. But right now you can do that as there are still a lot of free rooms. Also in a period of May-November the prices are very low (almost 2-3 time lower than in peak season).
Do you want to go to a budget trip or to luxury resort?
Best

For 2 persons its about 50$ per day with breakfast and dinner. It's average for low budget travelers.
And you will live in guest house on a local island.
Best,
