In the summer i am going to kenya to help build a health centre for two weeks, everone else going out there is going to stay for an extra week after that to do some safari and such, which i too will go along to. But i had a sudden thought the other day; why bother flying back to london from nairobi when i could make my own way back overland.

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience or just knows anything about doing something like this. I have two possible routes, one up through ethiopia, sudan, egypt then along North Africa to Morocco and get a ferry from Tangier to Gibralter, then either fly back from there or go up through spain and france and get another ferry over to dover.
The alternative is through the middle of Africa, through Uganda, DR Congo, Central African REpublic, Chad, Niger, Algeria and finally Morocco.
I went on the foriegn office website (www.fco.gov.uk) and most of the countries have 'Do Not Travel Through' stamped on them, but i think thats mainly because they dont want us to spend our money outside of immediate countires that could help with the economy.

Any help will be gladly received.

ummm actually the "do not travel thing" generally related to the civil wars, general danger to travellers attempting to cross the country, I'd say attempt this only with eyes and brain really wide open eh?!
