Hi,

My boyfriend and I are planning to go to New Zealand on working holiday visas next year. I have looked on http://www.backpackerboard.co.nz and there seems to be lots of jobs going. I just wondered if anyone had experience of doing this type of work in New Zealand? Is it easy to get work? And do the jobs get snapped up pretty quick? Not 100% sure what kind of work we would want but would want it to be paid rather than working for accommodation/food as we are planning on buying a camper van to live in for most of the trip.

Thank you :)

Christy

Buying a camper van:

As Australia is an expensive place to stay, buying a van is a good idea. The only real downside is if hot outside, it can be even hotter inside.

Wow, that is the most unfriendly post I have ever experienced from a forum. I know how to use Google thank you very much, I was just hoping someone may share their experience in getting paid jobs in New Zealand, I didn't think it was too much to ask. Never mind, I'll find a more friendly forum to use

You might want to try Trade Me or Seek NZ. Both these sites list jobs in New Zealand (Trade Me is like eBay but there's a job section too).

Two friends of mine came over in September on WHV and managed to get jobs at Hobbiton!

Don't be put off by some replies you get - there are many different types of people on this site. ?

ErolGirl, it seems to me your question was fine and OldPro's response was verging on abuse. Accordingly I'm going to flag it as offensive and see what the moderator says.

While I've travelled NZ a lot, I've not worked over there so I haven't got a lot to offer on your question. Except to say NZ is a fantastic destination and I'm sure you'll have a great trip. :-)

Thanks Andy. I've unflagged OldPro's reaction for now, since it's done its damage, and does not technically break forum rules, even though it goes strongly against the spirit of what the forum is intended to be. I've also asked Peter for guidance.

Hi Sander

Thanks.

Actually I think it does breach the rule that says "1. NO swearing, derogatory or inflammatory remarks are allowed." It seems quite firmly derogatory about the original poster's question, and could also be considered inflammatory.
