Hey everyone I am another "refugee" from Virtual Tourist. I am a Brit currently living in Israel. I have lived in France and in China where I taught English for many years. I am a compulsive traveller also belong to Servas.org and Couchsurfing. I travel with my husband and am especially keen on Asia- have travelled all over China and also in Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and would still like to go to Japan and Myanmar.
Very excited to be going to Mexico for 6 weeks next month so if anyone lives there we would love to meet up.
Happy and peaceful 2017 to us all.
Hello everyone
Welcome - love the name!
I came over from VT a few years ago. This is very similar but perhaps with fewer active members.
Myanmar is very popular right now although personally I found it didn't quite live up to the hype when we were there five years ago. Japan is brilliant - I wasn't so keen on Tokyo but Mt Fuji, Kyoto and Horoshima were unmissable. I've only done a small part of Mexico but certainly Chichen Itza and Tulum are great places to visit.
Enjoy your travels and enjoy Travellerspoint.
THanks a lot Borisborough. Is there any way to connect to people who live in a certain destination? We love to hang out with locals...
Welcome! I hope that TP will end up being a suitable alternative for VT, and a new home away from home.

The search box in the top right has a hidden feature where you can also search for members (not one of the options initially, but after you've searched, you can select the "Members" tab, and then using the advanced options, you can search for citizenship and place of residence. For example, this is everyone who has filled in that they live in israel. (I think it updates once a day, so you aren't in there yet. )
Also, it obviously depends on what information people fill in, and you might have to search a while before you find someone who's actually active - most members on travellerspoint registered for ho(s)tel bookings, to ask a question or two on the forums and then disappear, or to configure the travel map for use on an outside site - the percentage of the total membership who're currently actively blogging or posting in the forums is low. Still, many members who aren't active, do still pay attention, so if they have at least some content in their profile, a private message to them is probably worth a shot.
