Hi all

my blog (http://stephandmartin.travellerspoint.com/96/) has several thumbnails and when clicking on the image it opens the image slightly bigger, but not at its original size. How do I edit this to open the large version of the image? see my blog below:http://stephandmartin.travellerspoint.com/96/
I see the URL of the image should be like the following if i want it large: http://stephandmartin.travellerspoint.com/image_enlarge.cfm?src=http://photos.travellerspoint.com/200246/large_IMG_1772.jpg

thanks

Well, you can make it do this with some manual tweaking, but the popup window that the image loads in is fixed to not be particularly large, so it will probably result in scrolling.

For the photo you used as an example, you would change the code in your blog entry to something like this

I'd also recommend just loading up the large images in the posts as much as you can (you might need a different template to handle that). Although it does increase the loading time of the blog entry, I think most people are happy to wait for an entry with large photos and some of our most popular blogs always use lots of full size images.

Peter .. when I hover over a thumnail image, the text says' click for full size image' so it is a bit of a disappointment when a fairly large pop-up window opens with lots of white space & an image that is not full size. Is there some logic to having the smaller size as opposed to full size? Could the photo not be full size?

Since Peter's code example didn't show up, what he wrote was:

I have a feeling that when we first set it up the max size was in fact 400px so it was full size at that point. You're right that there is not much logic in it. Now you say it like that, I really should just change it to show the 800px one instead.

Thanks for the help guys, that's worked. although, as you say, the popup window could be wider and larger to accommodate the larger images now :)

If you were to do that, would it affect old blog entries or just new ones?
Would it be possible to allow the user to have a choice as to how big the pop up would be & where the pop up should appear? E.g the could be a cluster of 4 thumbnails together on a blog & when clicked they would form a larger cluster of those 4 photos.

Or another idea would be to have the ability to produce a full size slide show from the photos in a blog.

Or another idea .. to have a blog create itself from the location data on photos. So it shows a map linking each photo with the ability to add text between the photos. I have seen something like that somewhere else .. Google + or Google Photos maybe. I think the result produces sideways instead of up & down.

Sorry kostlin .. I highjacked your thread somewhat.

FYI kostlin, when I click the thumbnail on my desktop using Firefox the full-size picture that opens is cut off because the window is not the same size as the picture. I have to manually enlarge the window to see the full picture. Great blog, by the way. I'm really looking forward to going to Vietnam one day.

@Steve, not too worry, that's what these forums are for :) I like the ideas too.
@zzlangerhans: I think that's what Peter was saying, that the popup window should/would be adjusted to cater for the larger images. I'm glad you like the blog, thanks for the kind words.

The size of the popup window would affect all blog entries. The default choice of which size image is loaded would only affect new ones. That would be the simplest change to make (just tweaking a few lines here and there). It would be more complicated to adjust the popup size according to the size of the image.

I like the other suggestions too, but they would need a fair bit more work to achieve- especially the ability to generate blog posts from photos or similar things.

One of the ideas that keeps going around in my head is to be able to create a mini-blog of sorts from a trip map. Lots of people are mapping trips and if it was a simple step up to create a mini-blog, I think it could be quite popular.
