How do you choose your next destination for travel?

Hello everyone

I often listen friends when I have to choose a destination for travel. Sometimes I read travel blogs or forum but it is not easy to find bloggers who have the same travel taste.

Do you any suggestions ?

there are a variety of destinations available for any travel taste. Figure out what your taste is and make a list of potentials locales and work through vetting them.

Travel photos can be pretty good way of getting ideas for where to visit next. Pictures really do speak a thousand words sometimes

YouTube videos help, too.

Maybe TP community highlights would prompt some ideas

Usually it is photos of a place or I have seen something interesting on a travel show.

Hubby and I constantly save for holidays. Where we go is dictated by our budget. Our first big overseas holiday was to Europe and Morocco in 2011. We both like countryside off the beaten path and having a beer with the locals. We both choose places then I work out an itinerary. Hubby wanted to do Germany and Spain. I had seen a photo on virtualtourist of Brugge and wanted to go there. We centered a trip around a big VT meetup in Paris and met others in Amsterdam. And we both decided on a desert trip in Morocco.

Next big overseas trip was Canada US and Belize om 2015. Again hubby chose the Rockies and Smokies. I chose Vancouver and New Orleans and we had a big international VT meetup in Orlando. Belize was chosen as an off the beaten path experience and finishing off in the gorgeous Caye Caulker Island.

When figuring out places to see on the road. .... I use google maps to check out all the little towns along the road and use Google images to see what those towns have to offer.
I discovered places like Bad Wimphin Rothenburg ob de Tauber Kitzingen Mespellbrum The Moose Castle on the Rine Braubach Lier Ronda Ocoee and Savannah etc by this method.

In between big holidays we have been going to KL a bit to get our teeth done. So we have checked out a bit in the area like Malaka Pulau Tioman Langkawi Penang Ketam. I want to go back and do a road trip around the top end of Malaysia and down the east coast. We even got a great return flight bargain from KL to India which was awesome and not like I had imagined India to be. Obviously the backwaters are stunning and serene in comparison to the busy Cities in India.

Next trip is in May. It wasn't planned. I won a trip to NY on a photography tour for a photo that I entered in an Australian Photography forum. So of course we are madly saving so that we can take a side trip to visit our friends in Florida and then on to Jamaica

Oh and then there's the road trips in Australia that I have organised or helped organise with virtualtourist friends. Darwin to top end through Arnhem Land Survivor trip,
Perth to bottom end wildflowers, Cairns to Cooktown, Cairns to Darwin on the Savannah Way....
and currently a trip planned for 2018 entitled Tasting Tassi. Anyone interested.... let me know.
