Thank you all for your very detailed and well thought out itineraries as suggested.

After discussing with my dad, we may have 10 / 11 days instead of 7 (26th - 5th June). However, we need to be in Helsinki on the 1-2th June.

We can only fly to Helsinki and start our journey from Helsinki to St Petersburg's, spend a 72 hours (like you suggested probably easiest by cruise) and then travel back to Helsinki via Tallinn and spend a couple of days in Helsinki and surrounding before heading home to Malaysia. I really wanted to see Norway but I guess it may be too tight to fit that in.

If I can fit in Stockholm that would probably be even better. Again, maybe stretching it .. :)

What's in Tallinn and Helsinki which we must not miss ?

Seriously thank you all for the replies.

Thank you.

Kathleen

Please check the visa requirements .. if you need a Schengen visa I am sure you will need a multiple entry visa.

If you take St. Peter's Line, I believe I booked a cheap excursion (under 25 euro) to meet the requirement, but didn't actually complete it. You do not have to return to the boat during the 72 hours, and need to find your own accommodation, see whatever other sites you want. It's a great little loophole if you're nearby and want a taste of Russia without all the hassle of the visas. See their link below for more information:

I am aware that this is not the case for anyone travelling overland, or with other carriers (although there may be some exceptions for one or two now that weren't available when I was there). My hostel there was only about 16 CAD in 2015, and if I recall it was around 100-150 CAD for the boat there and back, including the "excursion".

June is also when you would catch the midnight sun in St. Petersburg, and is worth a visit.

I do not know why I cannot book / purchase online ticket from this St. Peters Line ferry. I have tried many dates, it just kept on saying that "no outward sail". I have also written in to ask if there's any issue with the website but so far, there's no reply from the company.

May I know, if I purchase the ferry ticket, does it comes with a cabin for overnight sleep ? (Presumably the ferry trip from Helsinki to St Petersburg is an overnight sail). Or do I have to buy the cruise ship ?

Thank you.
