When posting blog entries you mean?
There's a field "Posting Time", which gets filled in with the current time (in GMT) when you first start writing a blog entry. You can adjust that to show in your local time zine by setting the correct offset by checking the "Use Local Time on Blog" checkbox right beneath it.

What's confusing is that when you spend several hours writing your blog entry, it still keeps that original "Posting Time". That's a design decision to also allow you to schedule blog posts for posting at specific future times ("don't publish until tomorrow at noon"), but kinda weird when you just want to write and publish immediately.

You could manually change that time to be "correct" when you're done writing and actually publish the story, but that's kinda bothersome.

Maybe Peter would be willing to change things about here a bit, and keep track of the original "Posting Time", updating that field on publish, as long as it hasn't been changed from the first value?

Hi Sander , thanks for your response.

I understand what you are saying but the posting time always comes up a day ahead. Like if am an writing blog on the 11, the posting date comes up the 12th.
I have ticked the use local time on blog and put in the correct time zone but it does not change when I do this.

I will just try to remember to change manually, but it is a pain.

Oh wow, how bizarre! I can only suspect that this comes become you're located in Australia - but Peter is located in Australia as well, so really should be experiencing the same thing, then... Anyway, that definitely shouldn't happen, and that it does must be a weird kind of bug. I suspect Peter will be having a look at the code once he sees this thread. Thanks for reporting it! :)

actually, at the present I am holidaying in Panama City, Panama - Central America. This is why I think there is a problem because I changed time zones.

I'm having some trouble reproducing this problem. I tried posting with offset of UTC -5 (which is Panama time) and it seemed to do the right thing.

This is a test post I did.

The posting time when editing shows as "2017-02-13 03:53:40"

UTC offset is set to -5 to account for this, so that becomes the 12th of February which is what shows on the blog.

Can you show me a specific entry where you are seeing the wrong date showing on the blog? The latest entry I see of yours uses a date range which is entirely separate to the posting time anyway.

hiya,

date range showing is different because I manually changed it. when I do my next blog will send a snip to you.

just to clarify, when I am writing the blog and it show a forward posting date, if the UTC offset is -5 will the date auto be correct when I post it? I think not because the first 2 blogs I did had this forward date and emails were not sent out to my email subscribers.

why does it list a forward date there in the first place?

The posting date shouldn't be showing a future time ever. It should be the time you opened the page to start writing the entry (in GMT, not local) . If you then select to adjust the time displayed, then it should automatically show the updated time on your blog. It will not however change the Posting time that's shown when you're editing the entry as that is still the GMT time.

Not really sure if I'm addressing the question there to be honest. But please do let me know when the next entry is up so I can hopefully see the issue at hand more clearly.

ok so opened blog now to write a new post and posting time came up as:

Posting Time 2017-02-14 03:27:46

time and date on my netbook reads 10.31PM 13/02/2017

also it dates my blog 14th!

so posting time is in advance right? so unless I change this to current time it will not send email to my subscribers when I post.

FYI - your posting time looks like London time & date = GMT
