OK - I have not only to map them and put them in a specific location, but ALSO TAG them?
If I get discouraged with the mapping (which I am) and just upload the photos that I want again, do I have to map and tag them?
You don't have to do either, but if you want them considered for featuring they need to at least be mapped, as I understand it, and if you map and tag they are easier to find when you need them for a blog (or potentially in the future for reviews). I got discouraged too, but I slogged on and got there in the end, with the basic mapping. Now I am doing some tagging but only as I need each country's photos - so as I'm currently doing blog entries about Rajasthan I'm tagging the photos for each town there prior to writing that town's entry, and I find that speeds up the selection of photos for the blog.

I had 36,000+ photos and I can't map more than about 10 at once because they are all jumbled together. Sometimes it is one by one or two and then one and then another three. If I take only 30 seconds to map a group (and that assumes I can tell from the thumbnail where I took the photo and don't make a mistake and get one in the group that doesn't belong) it will take me a minimum of 50 hours to map them all It is true I'm retired, but I do have other things to do.

I used the photo list (under "manage") instead of the map. Much easier to handle, and you can easier find and tick photos that belong together. It should all be explained somewhere further up in this thread how to use it, how to see more than the 100 default photos in one page, etc. Another advantage is being able to do mapping and tagging in one step with the Edit function in there.
I have 19,000 photos and I got through them all a week ago. (Phew!)

But Steve - your misunderstanding of Trekki's question may help me. Because I was worried: if I have doublettes and have used this photo already in a blog but do not know which of the two, then I can delete the double photo without worrying that it may disappear from my blog? (Was this understandable? I hope...)
You ( & I ) should test that.
I have not tested it yet but if I go to my blog = http://hasbeen.travellerspoint.com/463/ & right click the first photo & choose 'open image in a new tab' , the URL shows details of the photo. That is new for me.
I have now tested it & the deleted photo is still in my blog but Sander's note above makes me suspicious as to wether it will remain so.
Steve
Well .. It has been a week since I deleted a photo & it still exists in my blog. I assume it never will get deleted from the blog .. unless I edit it out of the blog. Steve
