"...anyone has any advice on must dos or places to stay."

One week is not a lot of time for such a long plane ride. If possible try to stay a little longer.

Cambodia and Thailand are not too far away. With a few more days you can spend a few days in Bangkok OR maybe Siem Reap - Angkor Wat area.

This forum has information for Vietnam. Google search with your laptop will give you "things to see and do" for Vietnam too. An old fashioned printed travel guide will be helpful too.

My hotel help is too old now for Vietnam. When you need some hotel advice for a particular city location include your budget price per night.

Vietnam uses a lot of US dollars. Read up on currency for Vietnam. Don't leave Vietnam with VN dong because no one wants to change it later on.

If you have only one week for travelling to Vietnam, I think you should North (Hanoi and Halong Bay) and South (HCMC and Mekong Delta).
Fly into Hanoi
2 nights in Hanoi
1 night in Halong Bay
2 nights in HCMC
1 night in Mekong Delta
Fly out of HCMC

Dinh from DinHo Ecotour, Mekong Delta

It was not Heather who replied, but rather a spammer with an extremely generic response with a link included to their site. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by the notification.

Hello there,
1 week in Vietnam is too short. I recommend some must see attractions which you should visit in Vietnam for your precious time.
Hanoi: 2 days in Hanoi: Stay in Hanoi Old Quarter, visit: Hoan Kiem lake, Ngoc Son temple, Vietnamese ancient house (No. 72 Ma May street in Hanoi old quarter), Long Bien bridge. You can visit some museums: Ho Chi Minh complex, Hoa Lo prison. Especially try Vietnam cuisine in Hanoi old quarter: "Pho", "Bun Cha", "Banh mi", "Banh cuon", etc and should try egg coffee.
Ha Long Bay: 1 day
Hoi An: 2 days
Ho Chi Minh: 2 days
I hope you will have great journey in Vietnam

Hi Heather,
Good luck with your trip ahead. Vietnam has tons of things to see. One of destinations you must cover in your trip is Hoi An, near Da Nang city. I guess you will stop by it on the way from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh.
Great food and super cheap there But it's quite tough to book transportation tickets because most of staffs don't speak English well, use body language anytime! -snip-

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]
