How to travel cheap on Japan
Hi Majesus,
Well, if you did some research, you would find that not many things are cheap in Japan. A cup of coffee at the airport can cost you 8 US dollars. To go from Narita Tokyo airport to downtown Tokyo on the train is about 20 dollars a piece, or $200 by taxi. Couple years ago, my family stayed at a CHEAP inn Tokyo. We paid 130 dollars a night - no beds, four of us sleep in the floor (tatami traw mat) - w/ public bathroom and shower. It depends on what you want to do, and how long do you want to stay. For hotel, you can check with the youth hostels, the YMCA, on the internet. There rates are better than hotels. The cheapest hotel room is around $50/night. Hostel room can be had for as cheap as $20/per person. At the airport, there is a Japan Travel Bureau counter (run by the Japanese government). The people here will assist you in getting hotel rooms at all prices. They can aslo answer your questions concerning tours, ect. Trains and buses are plenty in Japan. Public parks are beautiful and free. Museums do cost money. Most restaurants have their menu in plastic models by the windows with prices underneath so you know what you want to eat and how much it cost. Fast food restaurant such as Mc Donalds, KFC, Pizza Huts, ect. are plenty. To go up the Tokyo Tower costs around 8 dollars each for the first stage.
Any more ??? just ask!
