I'm going to Alicante for 3 days this week and am planning to take the tram along the coast towards Benidorm - I'm not interested in seeing Benidorm itself but the journey sounds very scenic. Are there any villages along the way which are worthwhile stopping at for a wander around, perhaps some with nice coastal views?

I've been living in the area for a couple of months now and because of the coastal area where the tram passes I advise you to go to Sanjuan, it's a nice town with good views of the coast.

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

Whatever you do don't miss Castell de la Santa Bàrbara in Alicante, we saw watched the sunset from there and it was beautiful I can't say any of the towns were that memorable to me but we mostly passed through. A stop at Tossal de la Cala is a nice view and if you are willing to walk Torre El Aguiló makes for a nice hike with cliff top views

Thanks both of you. This trip was actually a year ago; I did go to the castle which was fantastic, and the village I ended up visiting and having lunch in was called El Campello just along the coast and it was lovely.
